FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE MEETING
October 5, 2005

Minutes
Attendees: Kimberly Elahab, Karla Arnold, Linda Bolds, Nan-c Moss, Hazel Rountree, Marlene Johnson, Olivia Reine’-Dike’
Absent: Carol Perkins
Action Items:
Karla will continue to work with Dr. Moyler on the youth candy sale. The candy is scheduled to be distributed on Saturday, October 8. She will also work on the potential greeting card fundraiser for parents. Karla will contact Cubb Foods regarding their Bagging for Tips program. Additionally, she will contact Walmart about the possibility of allowing the youth to sell candy at their store.
Kimberly and Nan-c will work with Linda and Karla on the ACT-SO Annual Fund Appeal Letter. Kimberly will also contact Office Depot and Target regarding Gift-in-Kind opportunities.
Hazel will contact Mr. Hyman at Hyman’s Fine Dining located in the Antioch Shrine Hall regarding a potential fundraising event.
Olivia will work with Marlene on the potential spirit bear fundraiser and will gather details about the possibility of having some sort of food event as a fundraiser. Tentative date sometime during Black History Month.
Marlene will check into the possibility of having a fundraiser at Gilly’s and will contact Dr. Mack (Dayton Public Schools) about working with ACT-SO on the potential spirit bear fundraiser. Also, she will contact Eleanor Stocks at the African American Chamber of Commerce to discuss ways we could partner with them. Additionally, Marlene will contact Don Black at the Dayton Weekly to find out what major events are happening during Black History Month.
Linda will work with the National Office on getting the 501 (c) (3) certificate to CheckSmart by Friday.
