  Assurant Announces Expansion in Dayton-Springfield
200 Jobs to Be Added at New Dayton Office
DAYTON, Ohio, June 24, 2013 –- Assurant Specialty Property, one of the Dayton-Springfield area’s largest employers, announced today it will hire at least 200 new employees and open a satellite office in northeast Dayton.

The specialty insurance firm currently employs approximately 1,900 at its office campus in Springfield, near Interstate 70. With client growth, the company needs additional staff, and the current Springfield offices are full.

The company considered numerous properties in Springfield and the surrounding area before signing a lease for approximately 41,000 square feet at 4646 Needmore Road, which previously housed a technology service center.

“We are strongly committed to the Dayton-Springfield area,” said Ray Rafferty, vice president for Assurant Specialty Property’s Springfield Service Center. “Springfield continues to be a great location for our business, and we look forward to expanding our presence in the Dayton business community.

“While we looked very seriously at properties in Springfield, which continues to be a great home for us after 20 years, ultimately, this location in northeast Dayton best suited our needs, with the required infrastructure, including backup power supply, already in place.”

Initially, some 50 employees are expected to transfer from Springfield to Dayton as the office opens in August. New positions will be added at Dayton and also at Springfield, maintaining employment at the main campus around 1,900.
