Dayton Chapter established on February 10, 1915 at Zion Baptist Church. The Dayton Chapter NAACP was Officially Chartered by the NAACP Board of Directors on May 10, 1915.

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, The Dayton Unit of the NAACP Afro-American, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) hosted "The Night Of The Stars" at Christ Cathedral Church.   ACT-SO is a yearlong enrichment program designed to recruit, stimulate, improve and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. The ACT-SO program centers around the dedication and commitment of community volunteers and business leaders; to serve as mentors and coaches to promote academic and artistic excellence among African-American students. There were 25 categories of competition in the sciences, humanities, performing and visual arts.
